About The Event

Learning Objectives:  

At the end of this workshop, the learner will be able to:  

(1) Describe the psychological and neurobiological mechanisms of addiction, as well as better understand the predisposing factors of substance use disorders; 

(2) Identify the three distinct domains of stigma including institutional, social, and self-stigma and describe them through a substance use lens; 

(3) Describe how presence of substance use disorder intersects with other marginalized identities to produce stigma;  

(4) Explain how to decrease stigma and challenge assumptions by changing the language we use when conceptualizing substance use disorders.
